CA - Foundation Level
To begin your journey in Chartered Accountancy, you must first complete the Foundation Course. Here are the eligibility criteria and key details:
Eligibility
Candidates must have completed their 12th examination in any stream (Arts, Commerce, or Science) from a recognized board.
Graduates and postgraduates with the required percentage can register directly for the Intermediate Course, by passing the Foundation.
Registration and Preparation
Registration can be done for the Foundation Course after passing the Class 10th Examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognised by the Central Government or the State government as equivalent thereto. This is the first step after completing Class 12. After registration, you need to study for a minimum of four months before you can take the Foundation Exam.
The first attempt for the foundation examination (under the new scheme of education and training) will be after passing the class 12th. Registration for the foundation course with the Board of Studies of the institute for a minimum period of 4 months on or before the 1st day of the month in which the examination is held:
- For exams held in the month of May – registration should be on or before 1st January of that year.
- For exams held in the month of September – registration should be on or before 1st May of that year.
- For exams held in the month of January – registration should be on or before 1st September of that year.
Direct Registration for Intermediate
Graduates or postgraduates who meet the specified percentage criteria can register directly for the Intermediate Course. You may also qualify for direct registration if you have passed the Intermediate exams conducted by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India or the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
Examination Schedule
Foundation-level Exams are conducted thrice in a year, in the month of January, May, and September.

The CA Foundation Level consists of four subjects, designed to provide a strong foundation in accounting and related areas. The subjects are:
- Principles and Practice of Accounting
- Business Laws
- Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning
- Business Economics
